Process and Production.

During our first animation class, Jay told us to do some simple character designs so we could start animating them and practice walk cycles with them.
Here are some of my sketches during the lesson and a finished character sheet at the bottom.

Upd8: Second class with Jay we animated some walk cycles and generally practices frame by frame animation in Photoshop. I did some individual work and attempted more walk cycles on my own time. Gif’ed them and posted bellow.

Test w/ photoshop. from Rustis Balciunas on Vimeo.

My first try at a walking cycle. The lack of in-betweens creates this limping motion, but in general I’m not very satisfied of how this turned out. So I decided to keep working until I get a result I would be more or less satisfied with.

My third attempt at a walking cycle. I’m rather satisfied how this one turned out, but there’s still a lot of work to put into this, keeping in mind that I just drew the main motions for the legs, but I do believe I managed to figure out a better way to start approaching walk cycles.
